How does RetLoc work?
Picture this: A situation where firefighters are to extinguish a fire on a three level building, the captain of the crew has difficulty to know whether they are searching for victims or struggling to save their own lives. Would the captain be able to see the current status of their personnel? Yes, it is possible. With RetLoc the captain not only will be able to see the current status of his team but also communicate with them via in-built pager system.
Here is an example of how RetLoc can help to save people's life. The main priority of the firefighters is to rescue people stranded or trapped in dangerous situations or inaccessible places and of course prevents the occupants from burning. Conflagrations of serious proportions usually occur during night while people sleep consequently, the habitants might be unable to find the right emergency exit in a smoggy apartment building as a sign of disorientation. Dwellers and the firefighters are prone to asphyxiation and poisoning even before waking-up.
Team under control
The factors previously mentioned can complicate the rescue teamwork and prolong their movement along the fireplace. When a fire fighter finds individuals trying to evacuate or even already poisoned by the smoke, the operative needs support from their team and in this case RetLoc would play an important role on the team. RetLoc would be handy when assisting the rescue team for instance; firemen get directions from their superior who is able to see the current status of the team thanks to RetLoc. The fire chief knows the exact location of any of their team member and will guide their firefighters to path which leads to other partner mainly when support is needed.
Fire marshals will be able to see the behavior of their team while extinguishing a fire. For example, when any fireman is showing no movement during a given period of time it can be a signal of injury or asphyxiation, in this case RetLoc analyses this unusual behavior and immediately warns the fire chief displaying the exact location of the fireman who needs help. On the other hand RetLoc is the tool that complements the common radio communication devices, in the eventuality of lost of radio communication RetLoc supports sending short messages similar to a pager which can be read in any kind of environment.
